Students 13-18 Years Age Enter Google Science Fair 2014

Google Science Fair is open for full-time and home-schooled students around the world, between ages of 13 and 18 (that’s 14-18 in Israel, Spain and South Korea, and 16-18 in the Netherlands) to enter the global online science and technology competition.

Age Categories –

  1. 13 to 14 year-olds
  2. 15 to 16 year-olds
  3. 17 to 18 year-olds

Prizes –

  1. The Grand Prize – The Grand Prize includes a 10-day trip to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic Expeditions, an incredible experience at the Virgin Galactic Spaceport and $50,000 in scholarship funding. And many more!
  2. Age Category Winners – A scholarship worth $25,000 toward each winner’s education costs along with many other prizes.
  3. Finalist Prize – Total 15 Awards with various prizes.
  4. Scientific American Science in Action Award – Scientific American will give $50,000 in funding and a year’s worth of mentoring to the winner.
  5. Google Science Fair Computer Science Award – $25,000 in funding by Google, to help develop theirproject and a year’s worth of mentoring.
  6. Celebrate the School Prize – A grant worth $10,000 toward classroom computing or science lab equipment along with many other prizes.
  7. Voter’s Choice Award – The winner will receive a $10,000 grant from Google to help develop their project.
  8. Local Award – The winners will be awarded a prize valued at $1,000 by Google, to help further their project and education.

Timeline –

  • 12 May 2014 – Submission Deadline
  • 26 June 2014 – Regional Finalists and Local Award Winners Announced
  • 6 August 2014 – Science in Action Award Winner and Global Finalists Announced
  • 1 September – Voters Choice Award Voting Begins

Eligibility Criteria –

  • Full-time and home-schooled students around the world, between ages of 13 and 18 (that’s 14-18 in Israel, Spain and South Korea, and 16-18 in the Netherlands) are eligible to apply. Residents of CubaIran, North Korea, SudanMyanmar/Burma, Syria, Zimbabwe, or any other U.S. sanctioned country are ineligible.
  • All children need parental consent to enter the competition.
  • The project can be individual or a team work.
